How do you keep track of recipes when there are so many bits and pieces and sometimes you just totally lose your mind when you need to think of what to cook for the next meal? Are you in the state before and how did you overcome it? How did you settle down with the recipe that is just nice for the occasion?
Here are just some of my daily ideas and tips to keep my sanity in the kitchen and in the home.
(1) Keep It Simple
Recipes are sometimes so complex with many combination that you can occasionally become confused totally. I can be so preoccupied with many options that I can get totally lost in all of them. So I did decide for a simple one as a start so that I get it right the first time and feel good with the achievement.
(2) Keep A Notebook
Get yourself a notebook handy and ready for your recipe writing and noting down is really an awesome help to your cooking for the family. I get so lost when there are piles of recipes on my kitchen area or refrigerator wall that I so totally lost my mind as well. So keeping a notebook helped me a lot as I get to put these recipes organized in my notebook. That goes to indicate I must keep some good stationary to maintain the notes that get into the notebook, else the notebook may become a stuffed drawer of clothes. Get what I mean.
(3) Keep Your Kitchen Clean and Clear
You probably have heard it or read it from those Organizing Gurus on how to improve productivity in the office. Some principles can be applied in the kitchen as well. For example, keeping your kitchen work desk clean and clear is one big step to keeping your mind and sanity in check. I have a hard time working things out sometimes when there are so many things piled here and there that can make one feel I am in the stock market. So taking some time housekeeping the kitchen work desk and refrigerator does help you. You can also involve your family to help you with organizing and housekeeping and let the kids learn some organizing skills from dad.
Last point for the day...
(4) Take Short Breaks
Make yourself a cup of tea or coffee and sit back and relax in the kitchen. Smell the coffee. I probably watched too much TV and movies where I have seen actors and actresses taking the time to enjoy their time together right in the kitchen, over coffee and tea and snacks. It is time for me to do that. And as I do that, viola! Another idea pops up and there is my notebook and pen ready for my next recipe!
